Playing jazz piano requires some specific knowledge that you do not learn by playing other genres of music, e.g. by doing classical studies or playing songs. The jazz piano course introduces you to the wonderful world of jazz piano, teaching you in a gradual and orderly manner everything you need to know to start playing jazz piano.

The ‘solo piano’ techniques

You will discover how a jazz piece is structured and how it works. You will then learn how to play the melody in solo piano, harmonising the theme with typical jazz chords, which are so beautiful (and a bit mysterious, at first!). You will also learn how to accompany a singer or to accompany yourself with just your left hand, so that you can free up your right hand for improvisation.

How is the jazz piano course structured?

With this course you will learn numerous jazz piano techniques used by leading jazz pianists. You have always listened to them with admiration and curiosity wondering: how does he play like that?

You will learn what a jazz pianist must think and discover techniques that seem so complicated. You will finally be able to use them yourself after I explain them to you. All you have to do is practise and you will make incredible progress, really starting to play jazz piano.

I don’t want to sell you a wrong course: are you sure you are ready for jazz piano?

My whole teaching philosophy is based on the principle: do the right thing, at the right time. Taking up the study of jazz piano too early may discourage you and make you give up. You might even convince yourself that it is too difficult for you and never try it again. This is why I want to make sure that you are ready to study jazz piano. Before purchasing this course, you should know:

• The pentagram: knowing how to read music in violin and bass clef
• Chords: knowing how to play seventh chords in all tonalities
• Major and minor scales in all keys
• The elementary principles of harmony, such as cadences II V I and the most common progressions

If you have been playing the piano for less than a couple of years, this course is probably too difficult for you. However, I have good news: on this site you will find courses that cover everything you need to improve. Visit the video course section of the site and choose the right course for you. If you apply yourself with a little patience, in a few months you may be ready for the wonderful world of jazz piano.

About me

I started studying jazz piano as a self-taught player, learning from experienced musicians and records. After graduating in classical piano, I devoted myself entirely to jazz piano, studying the repertoire of standards, in particular the music of George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Duke Ellington and the other great composers of American music.

I attended many seminars like Siena Jazz and played with great Italian jazz musicians, trying to learn from them. My greatest teachers were Luciano Milanese and Barry Harris.

My mission is to teach jazz music even to those who do not yet have a solid foundation. As long as you study in an orderly and unhurried manner, everyone can play jazz piano and have fun with improvisation, at any level.

1. A magical course that teaches you how to play jazz piano without commitment and effort on your part
2. A universal encyclopaedia with all the world’s jazz piano techniques, but a practical course with what you need now to start exploring this repertoire
3. A specific course on improvisation. There is already a course on this site for learning to improvise, suitable for all instruments (including pianists). This course is instead dedicated only to jazz piano and piano techniques.
